UK Countryside Review 2012 - The Old Horns Inn (Bradfield) - Pub Of The Year 2012

Its "Pub of the year" time 2012.

I have visited many places in 2012, and still find it hard to beat this place ....

I always enjoy a meal at the Old Horns Inn at Bradfield.
Any time of year, you will find this place just feels like the right place to be.

Friendly staff, lovely food, great surroundings and great value for money.  What more do you need !!

Even during the day (midweek), you can get 2 meals for £5, and the food does not lack on quality, even when there is a special offer on.

On Sunday, you can still order from the main menu, or visit the Carvery, which is excellent value and perfect for those that want to experience a genuine Yorkshire sunday lunch.  Its rather tasty.

If you would like to visit their own Website and Twitter page, you will be able to book and reserve your table.  Highly recommended.

10/10 *****

I am really looking forward to the Christmas menu.

Peak District Photo Album 2012

Peak District Photos from 2012 FREE PICTURES This photo album contains a great mini slideshow of the Peak District and its glorious countryside

Winter in the Peak District 2012

We all know that the festive season can be a beautiful time in the Peak District in Derbyshire in the UK.

Please do take care if the temperature goes below 6 Degrees, icy roads can catch you out, and in rural areas, you run more risk of coming across ice if it starts to get cold, and it is cold at the moment out there.

If you do have to travel in cold conditions, please carry a survival pack ... food, drink, blankets, hot drink etc.  If you keep prepared, then you will have a lovely time and will be able to enjoy cosy meals in cosy countryside pubs over the festive season.

You are welcome to send in your own festive pictures if you like, please let me know if you wish to send in your pictures :)  I will try to post my own new pictures of the Peak District really soon.

Ladybower Summer 2012

This was a perfect day :)

Taken at the Ladybower Resevoir in the Summer of 2012.

This year, the government did issue a hosepipe ban, which was lifted shortly afterwards due to the heavy rain that followed.

Lets hope the Summer of 2013 is a sunny one :)

Sheffield Evening Skyline

If peace and tranquility is not for you, then the city of Sheffield will have plenty to offer.
Casino's, Cinemas, Restaurants, Clubs, Theatres, Hotels ... its all there ... and more.

Sheffield is based in the North of the UK and is near to Meadowhall shopping centre.
Sheffield is knowns for its participation in the Steel industry, and Sheffield steel is still highly regarded as being the best quality steel.

Sheffield has 2 of the best Universities in the UK, and has a wide selection of shops in the city centre, in local surrounding areas, at Meadowhall and at various other shopping complexes to cater for everyone.

The sports facilities in Sheffield are World class.  We have Olympic gold medalists here :)

UK Snooker legends grace the Crucible each year.

The city centre does also host craft and food fairs during December.  Well worth a visit, but its best to check your information first, so you can book your hotel with plenty of time to spare.  Who needs New York .... ?

You can get to Sheffield if you head North up the M1 from the direction of London, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Nottingham, Derby and you will see Sheffield signposted.

If you are heading South from Newcastle Upon Tyne, then head past Leeds and Bradford down the M1 right to Sheffield.

Sheffield has a vibrant creative scene, and boasts several music studios and talented artists.  Sheffield has a strong creative culture, and you will find many people who study and appreciate art and creative meadia such as film.  Sheffield has several Art Galleries and plenty of inspiration to create art.

Sheffield has a wide range of cultures, and the many shops and restaurants in Sheffield would make anyone feel at home, from any part of the world.

There are even plenty of lovely parks in Sheffield if you want to relax, and there may be a nice change for the kids in store at one of the parks in Sheffield.

I will post a review later about the parks which are open to the public in Sheffield, list any events that you may be interested in attending and also list suggestions for fun days out throughout the year.

Sheffield does even have 24 hour supermarkets, so if you have a car, and need urgent food and drinks, you will have no problems with last minute shopping trips.

Don't worry if you have not got a car, Sheffield caters for Students travelling by Bus and Tram, and there are plenty of shops open until late fairly near to where you may live or stay.

Or you could order a Taxi ... Sheffield has plenty of "Black Cab" taxis.  They are similar to London taxis.
Getting around should be pretty easy.

Sheffield people are friendly, and there are really good times to be had.

I hope you are loving the blog so far, any comments would be welcome :)
